en: Celestun women are really aware of their value in the economic and social life of their community, they play an important role as a revenue source for their families, sometimes they are the leading source an some other times they mean the only source of the household income. They realize that even if their activity is not as economically important for the community, as it is that of the boatmen of the biosphere reserve or even the fishermen, it can be acknowledged that their job has a significant role as a supplementary service for tourism, specially the labor of the craftswomen and of those women which work in the hospitality business. The aim of this paper is to probe the social and economical involvement from a gender perspective, with the scope of the ecological economy on the women’s economic praxis in the ecotourism project of Celestún.>>>

en: If education is a human right we need to change school paradigm, co-education is an alternative. this model requires the existence of educational scenarios that foster equal opportunities between women and men. Education history has changed with society development: exclusion, segregation, integration and coeducation. the evolution has caused structural crises with disruptive characteristics and new elements of other systems. the National Development Plan in México 2013-2018 declares to include gender perspective to reach equality between women and men. en: In this paper, by analyzing a development project in a Mayan community in the Mexican state of Yucatan as well as the discourse of its promoters, we want to show how a naturalized racism appears in the visions of the promoters seeking to “help” indigenous communities achieve development. We argue that the idea of development is an aura that disguises a series of power relations that express, implement, and promote a discourse where the racism is present.>>>

en: Through the presentation and analysis of the documents published and circulated in England during the sixteenth century, this article studies the origins of the process of construction of English visions about the region known today as Maya. In a context framed by increasing tensions with Spain, the Maya region —conveniently close to English havens in the Caribbean— was perceived by some Englishmen as a strategic zone to erode Spanish power and to promote English rising imperial aspirations.>>>

en: We analyze the implementation of restrictive and controlling federal immigration policies of the twenties and thirties of the twentieth century in Motul, Yucatan, a small and remote town from the center of the country. The goal is to understand how decisions made at the federal level reached the most remote places and what were the real possibilities to carry out, in these regions, as established by the federal government. Noted for example that the impact of these policies was not uniform for all foreigners because in Lebanese and Koreans we can dislodge some differences due to their characteristics as migrant groups.>>>

en: This paper presents a theoretical and analytical approach to the accuracy of social scale related to concepts of belonging, identification and appropriation of territory by subjects in studies of international migration. Beyond thinking in Transnationalism, my arguments emphasize the process of territorialization realized by migrants and non-migrants in a precise time-space, thereby creating a heritage of geographical identity, instilled in the symbolic value of territory. In conclusion, I maintain the importance of territory related to a socio-cultural and spatial level in migration.>>>

en: This paper analyzes the vision of the Great War that the book of poems, The Unknown Soldier (1922), by Salomon de la Selva expresses. Considering that the author gives importance to the experience as poetic inspiration, I present some information about the author’s experience as soldier in the trenches. The analysis of the poems delimits the testimonial aspect of poetic artifice; I attempt to show that, parallel to the chronological narrative of events of war, can be identified a “second argument”, which involves the gradual transformation that occurs in the consciousness of the lyrical subject as it takes the personality of the soldier.>>>
