en: Using data from the 2011 National Survey of Household Relations Dynamics ((ENDIREH, 2011) the prevalence and factors associated with dating rape among Mexican young women are thus documented. A univariate, bivariate and multivariate statistical analysis was carried out and we also construct several index. 1.7 per cen of women aged 15 to 29 reported have been forced to engage in sexual intercourse at least once while dating. These findings suggest a high preva - lence of rape in dating relationships and make visible that sexual violence is highly associated with other kind of violences against women but also with gender inequities and normativities prevailing in the mexican society.>>>

en: This article attempts to study and analyze the reality of the international prison population, ap - proaching Europe and Latin America as well as the Spanish context. Results of a Spanish national research to 538 women prisoners (15 por ciento of the female prison population) are presented in order to determine their sociodemographic characteristics, vulnerable situations and different risk factors, marginalization, social exclusion, and poverty, which involve people before entering prison and their relationship to crime. The results make visible the massive prison population dimension in the international sphere, from global population to female population in addition to personal traits and socio-contextual effects that denote the direct and indirect influences of diffe - rent types of exclusions and experiences, in which the problems, weaknesses, and needs, are able to influence the commission of crime. Facts and consequences in the case of women have major and serious repercussions. These data demonstrate the ineffectiveness of the prison system as a deterrent and preventive of crime also leads to questioning the parameters of social alternatives (political, economic, and cultural), and educational action oriented towards the rehabilitation and reintegration of this collective.>>>

en: This article aims to analyze family arrangements during elderliness in Uruguay as well as their implications for the design and implementation of public policies. Uruguay is an interesting case for two reasons. First, it is one of the eldest countries in the region. Second, family arrangements during elderliness are different from those in the region, predominating single households and nuclear households without kids. Moreover, elderly women are becoming particularly vulnerable due to the feminization of elderliness and the process of aging. In the context of the implemen - tation of a new social protection system in Uruguay, which partly focuses on vulnerable and dependent elderly, this paper sheds light on two different questions. How could family arrange - ments contribute to the social protection system’s design? Which aspects promote vulnerability among elderly’s households?>>>

en: Derived from a global climate change scenario, hurricane Stan (2005) severely impacted the Si - erra Region of Chiapas and caused one of the largest internal displacements of people never seen before in the state. A portion of the population suffered a sudden relocation to nearby places amid improvised actions by public agencies, disregarding the international protocols on the subject. To analyze the process of relocation and its consequences, we conducted a study in two communi - ties of displaced people called “fraccionamientos”. In the new places of settlement, livelihoods were more precarious than those of previous places of residence, these is why displaced people have been unable to access to satisfiers of general welfare and maintain the usual international migration pattern they had before displacement. Instead, current conditions have led to a com - muter type migration, a kind of migration that the same population had surpassed decades ago.>>>

en: This article points out some analytical research addressing trends care and family in the context of international migration of parents published in Latin America and Spain between 2002 and 2013. In these investigations the structural condition of the care allowance as knowing and duty of women is repeated; some discussions about the social organization of care in the family and their transnationalization shown, and reveals little research about men and care.>>>
en: Fries in his compression of morbidity theory proposed that decline in premature deaths and postponement of chronic illness leads to a more rectangle shaped survival curve, concentrating diseases and death at the end of life (mortality compression). This study results show signs of mortality compression with a gradual concentration of deaths around the modal age and a rec - tangularization of the survival curve in Chileans between 1969-2002. However, mortality is not only being compressed but also moving towards the right since modal age of death has increased, meaning that "most common length of life" in Chile is increasing.>>>
